“A Lesson From My Grandad: Check Your Prescriptions”
Hey good morning everyone!
I hope you all had an amazing weekend and that your week has started off well.
Today, I want to share a little personal story about why it’s so important to check your medications when you pick them up from the chemist.
Yesterday, I saw my doctor and he increased the dose of one of my medications. The prescription was sent straight through to the chemist, so I went to collect it as usual. When I got home and started filling up my dosette box, I noticed the new tablet looked very different—it was much larger than my usual ones.
That’s when I read the packaging properly and realised it wasn’t my medication at all. In fact, it was something completely different—meant to help with a totally unrelated issue for men! Meanwhile, the medication I was supposed to have was for managing my anxiety and anger.
Luckily, I spotted the mistake before taking anything. And honestly, I have my grandad to thank for that. When I used to help him with his medications, I learned how important it is to double-check everything. It’s a lesson that’s stuck with me—and it really saved me this time.
So, my reminder to you is simple but important:
👉 Always check your medications. Make sure you’ve got the right ones.
Quick Tips for Checking Your Prescriptions
- Look at the packaging – Make sure the name, dosage, and instructions match what your doctor told you.
- Check the tablets – If they look different from what you normally take, ask the pharmacist before taking them.
- Don’t be afraid to ask – Pharmacists are there to help, and it’s always better to double-check than risk taking the wrong thing.
Thanks so much for reading, and thank you as always for your continued support.
Have a great rest of your week! 🌟
