Alexa has an attitude (and I’m sure it’s personal)
Good morning and happy new week — happy Monday everyone!
I hope you’ve all had an amazing weekend and that you’re nearly ready for Christmas 🎄 (or at least pretending to be).
Today I want to talk about something funny… but also slightly annoying.
Technology.
More specifically — Alexa.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Alexa… most of the time. But does anyone else feel like she always wants the last word? Or just completely ignores you — even when you’re by yourself, with no background noise, no TV on, and definitely no one else talking?
I’ll ask Alexa to set a timer. She either ignores me or does it so quietly I don’t hear her. Then, because I haven’t looked at the time (you know, because I set a timer), I’ll ask,
“Alexa, how long is left?”
And she’ll reply:
“There are no timers set.”
Grrrrr 😤
That’s usually the moment I reply with something along the lines of,
“Alexa, you’re a silly thing 🤪.”
Then there’s the other classic moment. I’ll be sat watching TV, minding my own business, when suddenly Alexa lights up out of nowhere — even though no one has said her name. And I’m thinking, you can’t even do a simple thing when I ask you… but you react to the TV?!
Honestly, the silly blooming thing has a mind of her own.
I know it’s only technology, and I try not to take it personally — but sometimes it really does feel like Alexa has an attitude!
I’d love to hear your funny (or annoying) Alexa moments. Please tell me I’m not the only one this happens to.
Thank you all for reading. Have an amazing week 😊
See you in the next one.

Dear John
Alexa reads my mind too…
The reading of my mind is kind of rude, although I don’t really mind if good things come from it.
Did you know, John, if you whisper to Alexa, she whispers back. I love whisper commands because they remind me of my first love, Chocolate.
🙂
