Help wanted making a Documentary about a 100+ yo Fishing Smack called the Excelsior

The project runs from Nov ’26 through Feb ’27.

There are three places from the Lived Experience community and three places from the volunteers currently supporting the Excelsior Trust’s Excelsior available.

The filming shall have supervision by Julian Claxton photography who is an accredited documentary maker.

The project will involve:

  • Up to six site visits while the Smack is in dock at Lake Lothing yard.
  • A mix of online and in-person planning meetings … To include storyboarding, interview preparation.
  • Video editing tasks and collaborative creative work

Once we have around six participants (three from the Excelsior volunteer pool and three from the Waveney Valley Lived Experience community), we will be in a position to apply for funding. Our intention is that no volunteer will be out of pocket, and there may even be a little extra for your time and contribution.

To take part, you will need:

  • Access to a computer capable of running Zoom (or similar)
  • reliable broadband connection suitable for video editing work

Most importantly — this will be a fun, creative, and rewarding experience.

Please also feel free to share this opportunity widely with anyone who might be interested.

Note the Excelsior Yard for site visits is in Oulten Broad.
