World Mental Health Day 2026

There is no "I" in struggle

World Mental Health Day 2026

My business partner John positively describes Mental Health. The two words actually, literally define positive health. I think often if the phrase is repeated too much, then it can wear out some people. I do not think it should. We should be able to express this term over and over; if it wears someone out, then they might know more about the way a mental health-diagnosed individual might feel.

Perhaps if we change the way we talk about Mental Health, it might prevent the abrasive nature of the narrative.

How do we do this?

This is only an opinion: When we offer a problem, perhaps at the same time we should offer a sensible or common-sense solution. Maybe even an intricate solution. People with lived experience have knowledge that people without lived experience do not. And likely vice versa. What if people with lived experience have more knowledge than they divulge and an ability to think not thought of as a resource? When a humble person is not listened to, then knowledge in conversation is possibly missed or lost. This could be the information that saves lives, a locality, or even the world.

If you cannot expose a solution to a problem, keep it to yourself until the solution becomes visible. Of course, some problems need airing so that a solution is found within conversation, so if the conversation is about mental health, perhaps observe patience and understanding. Do not think of the conversation as repetitive or dull, and avoid feeling an abrasive effect. If it is a repetitive conversation, perhaps it has not resolved itself and needs resolving.

Slow is the art of some conversations; however, if not allowed to be aired, a solution may never be found.
